Free Food Items Every Day (items vary daily):

Free Food Packages:

  • ​DMARC Food Package

    • Available once per month from a DMARC Pantry. This is a 3-day supply of food. 

  • Bidwell Emergency Food Package

    • Available once per month. This is miscellaneous food items which includes canned food and, when available, items in the cooler and freezer, ​

Free Clothing:

  • Available twice per week (Mon. through Fri.).

  • Must check in at the desk to access.

Other Free Services When Available: 

  • Toiletries/Personals (once per month*)

  • Feminine Hygiene Products (once per month*)

  • Diapers and Baby Wipes (once per month*)

  • Formula and Baby Food (once per month*)

  • Incontinence Products (once per month*)

*All services except DMARC Food Packages are subject to availability. 

Free Household Items:

  • Household Items are only available with a meal package. Pantry guests must receive a DMARC or Emergency Food Package to be allowed to receive items from the Household Shelf. 

 

Other Information:  

If you are unable to provide an ID, a limited amount of food is available. 

How to get food: 

  1. No appointment is necessary. All services are free. 

  2. Please check in when you arrive.

  3. Last check in is at 4:45pm each week day. 

  4. Masks are not required

  5. When you arrive, enter the pantry.

  6. Complete the check-in process with one of our staff members. If possible, please bring identification for each member of your household. 

  7. After you check in, you can choose your own food OR you can have volunteers pick your food and bring it out to you.  

  8. If you choose curb-side service, you will need to stay in your car or wait at the picnic tables to receive your food package and other services.

  9. If you choose to go into the building, staff or volunteers will guide you to help you keep track of your items.

  10. Go home and enjoy your food!

Pantry Information:

  • All food pantry services are first come, first serve.

  • We are a no boundary pantry; we welcome everyone no matter where you live.

  • No financial information needed.

  • Please bring an ID for the head of household
    each time you come. Types of ID are flexible.

  • Member of Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) Food Pantry Network.

  • Proud Partner of Food Bank of Iowa.

Accepted Forms of Identification:

  • Driver's License

  • Passport

  • School ID

  • Title 19 Card

  • Medical Card or Health Insurance Card

  • Birth Certificate

  • Court Document

  • County, State, or Federal Government Documents

  • Identification from Another Country        

  • Polk County Human Services Documents

  • Current DHS Decision (Dept. of Human Services) 

  • Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate ID Card

  • No IDs expired for 18 months or greater

Food Pick Up By Proxy

To pick up another household's (or family's) food package and other services, you must have the following:  

  • Your ID (person picking up)

  • All IDs for those in the household for which you are picking up

  • A note stating who may pick up the food (and other services) signed by an adult member in the household for which you are pick up.
