Food Pantry Services - Without an ID:

  • Any-time food items (daily)

  • Meals From The Heartland (daily)

  • Bread and Sweets (daily)

  • Clothing (daily)

  • Outside Produce (when available)

  • USDA Food - If you are unable to provide an ID, a limited amount of food is available. 

Food Pantry Services - With an ID:

  • Food Packages

    • (2 times per month - 7 days between)

  • Household Items 

    • (2 times per month only with Food Package*)​

  • Toiletries/Personals (once per month*)

  • Feminine Hygiene Products (once per month*)

  • Diapers (once per month*)

  • Formula (once per month*)

  • Baby Food (once per month*)

  • Baby Wipes (once per month*)

  • Incontinence Products (twice per month*)

*All services except food are subject to availability. 

Clothing and Household Items:

Household items are only available with a meal package - clients must receive a DMARC or Emergency Food Package from Bidwell to be allowed to shop the Household Shelf. 

Clothing can be accessed as long as clients have received a food package from DMARC in the last 60 days. 

How to get food: 

  1. When you pull into the pantry back parking lot.

  2. Go to one of the open pantry windows and complete the check-in process with one of our staff members. Please remember to bring identification for each member of your household. 

  3. After you check in, you can chose curb-side service and have volunteers or staff pick your food and bring it to you, or you can go into the building and choose your own food. 

  4. If you choose curb-side service, you will need to stay in your car or wait at the picnic tables to receive your food package and other services.

  5. If you choose to go into the building, staff or volunteers will shop with you to help you keep track of your items.

  6. Go home and enjoy your food!

Other Information:

  • All food pantry services are first come, first serve.

  • We are a no boundary pantry; we welcome everyone no matter where you live. 

  • Financial information is not needed.

  • Member of Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) Food Pantry Network.

Accepted Forms of Identification:

  • Picture ID

  • School ID

  • Title 19 Card

  • Medical Card

  • Health Insurance Card

  • Birth Certificate

  • Court Document

  • County, State, or Federal Government Documents

  • Passport

  • Identification from Another Country        

  • Polk County Human Services Documents

  • Current DHS Decision (Dept. of Human Services) 

  • Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate ID Card

No IDs expired for 18 months or greater


Food Pick Up By Proxy

To pick up another household's (or family's) food package and other services, you must have the following:  

  • Your ID (person picking up)

  • All IDs for those in the household for which you are picking up

  • A note stating who may pick up the food (and other services) signed by an adult member in the household for which you are pick up.
