Clothing & Household Donations

New or gently-used items are needed for our clothing and household pantry.  Items need to be clean, in good condition, in working order, and include all pieces.  Damaged or broken items may be turned away.  Donations should not be left outside. 

 

Donations may be dropped off inside the back door of the food and clothing pantry during the following hours:

  • Mondays 8am-4pm

  • Tuesdays 8am-6pm

  • Wednesdays 8am-4pm

  • Thursdays 8am-6pm

  • Fridays 8am-4pm

  • Saturdays 8am-12pm

Scheduling Large Donations:  If you are bringing more donations than what would fit in one grocery cart, please schedule a delivery time.  Contact Missy Reams by email at mreams@bidwellriverside.org or by phone at 515-244-6251 option 5 to schedule a delivery time.  

 

Accepted Items:    

  • Plastic grocery bags

  • Clothing and shoes (including, coats, underwear, bras, socks, purses and belts)

  • Hats, gloves, mittens and scarves

  • Jewelry

  • Books, magazines, records, compact disks (CDs), video tapes and DVDs

  • Games, toys and sports equipment

  • Housewares: dishes, glassware, silverware, pans, kitchen utensils, and small appliances

  • Microwaves

  • Lamps

  • Collectibles, antiques, knickknacks and other gift-ware

  • Hand tools and small power tools

  • Domestics: linens, curtains, towels, etc.

  • Blankets, bedding, sheets, pillows

  • Strollers

  • Booster seats (none with high back)

Items Not Accepted:  

No furniture

  • No mattresses/box springs or bed frames

  • No TVs or electronics including stereos, radios, VCRs, DVD players, etc.

  • No computers, laptops, or monitors of any kind

  • No cribs, high chairs, or walkers

  • No car seats or booster seats with high backs 

  • No soiled clothing

  • No household chemical products such as pesticides, paint, paint thinner, and other environmentally-unfriendly waste products.

  • No automotive hazardous waste such as tires, lead acid batteries, additives, gasoline, oils, antifreeze, etc.

  • No large appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves/ovens, washers/dryers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, furnaces, etc.

  • No carpet or carpet padding

  • No plumbing fixtures or building materials

  • No weapons such as guns, bows and arrows, ammunition, hunting knives, etc.

  • No plastic containers without lids (ex: Tupperware)

  • No used food containers (or cool whip containers, etc.) or plastic to-go cups from convenience stores

  • No used medical equipment (such as wheel chairs, walkers, breathing machines, crutches, etc.)
